ABOUT SHAWN MESA
My name is Shawn Mesa. I was admitted as a lawyer to the Florida Bar in 1999 by the Florida Supreme Court after graduating from South Texas College of Law as a Doctor of Jurisprudence in the same year.
Because of my family history, one of my main focuses is immigration law. My grandfather moved his family from Cuba to the United States a couple of years prior to the Cuban Revolution because of government threats to his well-being. I feel the United States presents a tremendous opportunity for newcomers and I receive great satisfaction from helping people experience it.
I am an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and Hillsborough County Bar Association. My community involvement includes coaching Judo for the Florida School of Judo and Metropolitan YMCAs, sitting on Jesuit High School of Tampa’s Alumni Representative Council, and lending my experience to the Hispanic Business Initiative Funds’ Technical Assistance Committee.
I am available to speak with groups about immigration or citizenship-related issues. Please contact my office for details – (813) 679-5780.
AILA Member attorneys represent tens of thousands of U.S. families who have applied for permanent residence for their spouses, children, and other close relatives to lawfully enter and reside in the United States.
